Burj Al Arab Dubai

Burj Al Arab is one of the icons of Dubai. The other one being Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world.

Burj Al Arab is a luxury hotel built in the sea 280 metres away from Jumeirah beach. It is shaped like a sail boat and rises 1000 feet above the sea level. It took five years to build and was inaugurated in 1999. The atrium of the hotel has a fountain which was featured in KBG-47. It posed a travel challenge to all the readers. Since KBG-46 also pertained to the Golden Horses of Dubai, we expected many correct answers. And rightly so, within minutes, we had more than 10 correct answers. See the pictures of Burj Al Arab below.

See the satellite picture below courtesy Google Maps.

Winners

To encourage travelling and learning from travels, we give extra credit to those readers who have actually seen the location, building, tree or plant featured in KBG Contests. Those who googled and gave the answer also deserve congratulations. In this category we have Anshu Bhargava, Deepak K Jena, Avinash Tiwari, Vinay Prasad, Amandeep Kaur and Ruchi Bhargava. The winners of KBG-47 profiled below have all been to Burj Al Arab at one time or the other. All three winners happen to have same surname Sharma. But that's a mere coincidence.

  1. Satya Prakash Sharma, MBA BITS Pilani. Former President (Commercial) Universal Cables Ltd Satna MP. Advisor to Chambers of Commerce and educational institutions. Loves travelling, lives in Jaipur.
  2. Rakesh Sharma PhD. An alumnus of BITS Pilani where he excelled as a sportsman, Rakesh retired from the Army as a Colonel. Was Vice Chancellor of a private university thereafter. Lives in Ajmer.
  3. Parag Sharma, Former Combat Pilot who retired as an Air Commodore from IAF. An  advisor on Net Assessment. A traveller and avid reader who lives in Nagpur.

Dubai

Dubai has many attractions. You may browse our earlier story to access both the well known spots of Dubai as well as some not-so-common places to visit.

The credit for suggesting the topic for KBG-47 goes to Anand Jain a keen traveller and photographer, who lives in Sharjah UAE.

Hope we have helped you in lessening the boredom due to Covid. More KBG challenges coming up.

Stay connected.
