The pictures shown in KBG-31 foxed most participants even though Corona lockdown gave them enough time to hunt/search/ask. The 31st edition of Kaun Banega Ghumakkad attracted more than 300 participants online. A heartening number indeed.
The correct answer is Daly College Indore. More than ten participants hit it within 30 minutes correctly. That is why this time we have four winners instead of usual three!
Daly College has lot of history. According to Wikipedia, it was founded by Sir Henry Daly of the British Indian Army in 1870 as the Residency School. It was then renamed as the East Rajkumar College in 1876, and in 1882, it came to be known as The Daly College. There are other Rajkumar colleges in Rajkot and Raipur which were set up in late 19th century for the 'Kumars' or Princes of the then princely states in India.
The main building was constructed with marble from
the Udaipur quarries and was designed in the Indo-
Saracenic architecture by Col Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob.
The clock tower was donated by HH Maharaja Sir
Sayaji Rao III Gaekwad of Baroda.
The school was established to educate the children of the royalty, nobility and aristocracy of Central Indian Princely States of the 'Marathas', 'Rajputs', 'Mohameddans' and 'Bundelas'. The College Coat of Arms depicts all the states and regions. Its motto is 'Gyanamev Shakti' ज्ञानमेव शक्ति meaning 'knowledge is power'. Reader may browse the school website for further details on the Coat of Arms. See the picture below.
The school campus is located on 120 acre land donated by then Maharaja of Holkar State in 1905. It has excellent facilities for sports and other co-curricular activities. The campus is home to many bird species.
The alumni of Daly College are known as Old Dalians. They came together in 2000 and erected a new main gate called 'Gyan Dwar' ज्ञान द्वार meaning Knowledge Gate. See the pictures below.
After India attained Independence, the school opened its doors to all on merit. The school has been winning many awards in All India Public Schools Contests. The school became a member of the prestigious Round Square in 2005. Indian Postal department issued a special stamp on the school in 2007.
The Daly College now also has a Business School
under its umbrella – the Daly College Business School (DCBS), in collaboration with the De Montfort University, Leicester, UK. See the picture below.
